Margin
A margin is an extra border or empty space around the edge of something.
Think of it like the blank, white space around the edges of a notebook page where you do not write.
In MST, adding a margin gives you extra room to work so you do not make mistakes on your final project.
Final Size: This is the exact, perfect size your finished project needs to be.
The 1 cm Margin: This is an extra 1 centimetre of material added to every single side of your shape.
Rough Size: This is the larger size you cut first, which includes your project plus the extra margin space.
Why use a margin?
It protects your project! If the edges of your boxboard get bent, dented, or cut a little crooked at first, it is okay. You still have plenty of room to trim it down to the perfect final size later.
