The Decimeter
What is a Decimeter?
A decimeter (dm) is a handy metric unit used to measure length.
Length is simply the distance between two points.
Measurement tells us exactly how long something is from one end to the other.
To help you visualize it, a decimeter is about the width of a large adult’s palm. It sits right between a centimeter and a meter.
The "Power of 10" Rule:
The metric system loves the number 10! You can see how they relate using Cubee 'D's eyebrow as an example:
0.3 decimeters (The big picture)
3 centimeters (The middle ground)
30 millimeters (The tiny details)
All three of these measurements are exactly the same length—they just use different units!
I am 1dm, or 10cm, or 100mm wide.
