The Gram
                    The Gram
Think of a gram as the "featherweight champion" of the metric system.

It’s exactly what you’d get if you took a tiny cubic centimetre (about the size of a sugar cube) and filled it with water. It’s light, it’s precise, and it’s basically 1/1000th of a sturdy kilogram.

Now, look at that Bee Hummingbird on the left. This tiny jet-setter is only about 7cm long, which is basically the size of a large paperclip.

Even as a full-grown adult, it weighs only 1.5 grams. To put that in perspective: if you held two small paperclips in your hand, you’d be holding more mass than a whole living, breathing, honey-slurping bird!
