The Hot Glue Gun

A hot glue gun is an electric devise that applies an adhesive.An adhesive is a material that sticks two objects together.

The hot glue gun uses a small electric heater to make the glue hot. This plastic glue is called a thermoplastic. When the thermoplastic cools it becomes a solid.

The hot glue sticks are sold as solid round sticks of various diameters designed to be applied using a hot glue gun.

There are two main diameter sizes.The most common is the large 12mm size and one that is very popular for kids; the mini hot glue gun which uses a 7mm stick.

I use both sizes: the small gun when I am doing a small project that has a lot of small parts. I use the big one when I am working with large pieces of cardboard like the catapult project.
