Connecting Your Computer

Note: Read the
Important Information section on my web site before beginning creating your virtual classroom.

                                          Hard-wiring
An Ethernet connection is a hard-wired connection. Hard-wired  means making a permanent connection using a solid, specialized connecting wire. Therefore, the first thing you need to consider when setting up your classroom computer is; do I have access to an ethernet cable in my work area? If you don’t, you will need to make arrangements to bring the cable to wherever your desk-workspace will be placed.

Connecting your computer to the internet with an ethernet cable for downloading and uploading is the  most important computer connection you will make when sharing files, information and data. Compared to Wi-Fi, an ethernet internet connection is very stable and reliable.  Wi-Fi signals are transmitted through the air and signals from other sources can interfere with your signal. An ethernet connection  works faster than WiFi, your computer will  stay connected, and your connection will be far more reliable.
